Alisa Kolot is a sound designer, composer, and musician based in Chicago. As a pianist-improviser Alisa is influenced by contemporary, jazz, free-form, and baroque traditions that are blended with electronics and extended technique.
An alumni the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY with a bachelor’s degree in classical piano, Alisa began improvising by studying of atonal music and numerology. This lead to a series of compositions exploring how Fibonacci Sequence can fit into 12 tone improvisation.
Alisa runs an ongoing sound collection project over the span of two years, featuring daily videos of newfound sounds. The project is an quest for discovering new instruments, field recordings, intricate synth patterns, and lush piano harmonies.
